When you are ready to post a picture you go below the text box you are typing you post in and look for the BROWSE button. Hit that BROWSE button and you will be taken to your computer to look for the photo you want to post. For example if you have the photo on you DESKTOP or in a PHOTO FOLDER on you desktop you will be able to CLICK on the photo you want to post.

Once the photo you want to post has been selected you will CLICK a button that says OPEN. Once you do that you will have the photo back into the forum ready to load. Below the BROWSE button you hit the button that says ADD THE FILE. You will have a short delay! You will be prompted when the file is ready to SUBMIT.

It's fairly easy. SIZING the photos is another story! If you submit the photo too large we will resize it for you but in a perfect world you will need to learn how to resize the photos. Maybe CONNIE can make a post with a little lesson on resizing photos.

Good Luck! Let's see some pictures! :camera:

I'd love to tell people how to downsize their photos, the only problem is that everyone has different software. As far as the size goes, I downsize everything to a maximum of 640 pixels wide or tall. Sometimes I crop the image to allow the focal point to be larger. If anyone wants specific details as to how to downsize, just let me know what software you have and I'll try to research and let you know what to do. If all else fails, upload it large and when I see it I'll downsize it.

Well, let me know what operating system you're using (Windows XP, Vista, MacOSX, etc.). Did your camera come with any software? What paint program do you have? I'll see what I can find out for you.

I really wasn't talking about you... Eric just suggested that I could post instructions. I don't mind resizing photos. I work at the computer all day and it gives me a break from my other projects, it just that sometimes I'm on deadline and don't see them when you first put them up.

I looked into resizing pictures in Paint. It is possible, but that program isn't designed for that purpose. I can give you the instructions if you'd like, but while researching I found several people suggesting this free program to resize photos.

http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm

If you try downloading this and still have trouble let me know and I'll install it on one of our computers and see what you need to do. FYI, the screen shot on the linked page is set up with the options you'll want (i.e. Custom size, Maintain Aspect Ratio (you can use 640 instead of 600), jpg).

Connie, I too have problems with pix that appear on this site extremely LARGE. After snapping pix with a digital camera and saving them to my PC, I crop them to eliminate borders and other things that aren't necessary. When I upload them to this site, however, the pix appear very large--regardless of the size I've cropped the pix down to. I hate having to make you do this for me all of the time, and I'd be more than happy to do this myself; but I need some help. Should I use the pixresizer software you mentioned on the site in a previous post?
Thanks, Orful

Yes, the pixresizer program would do the trick. The problem isn't in cropping, it's in the resolution. The cameras today take such wonderful pictures, but have greatly increased the resolution in the process. You really wouldn't want to change the settings in your camera to take lower resolution photos, so you'll need software to reduce the pixel size. I currently re-size your photos to 640 pixels x 480 pixels.

As an added bonus, after you re-size your photos, you'll be amazed at how fast the upload!

Thanks, Connie. I will get the software ASAP (provided Vista actually allows it!).
